JOHNSTON, Iowa - A new law that went into effect this month requires the use of engine cut-off switch links.
Boating Law Administrator for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Susan Stocker told KXCV/KRNW that the links are designed to stop a boat when the operator falls off.
The law applies to all federal waterways, like the Missouri river and federal-owned reservoirs.
